I’ve been involved in games, especially at the collegiate and professional levels, where I knew, even before the game started, that the opponent’s pitcher was talented. You will probably, if you have not already, come across this situation.
Knowing your competition should not change anything. It is easy to think that your team will not score many runs and this will most often lead you to question the outcome of the game. Even so, you can only worry about the things that you can control, namely, how many runs your opponents score.
Remain focused. Your focus should not alter based on your opponent. No matter the situation, each game should warrant the same amount of focus. Focusing more should not be an option, as you should be as focused as possible no matter the situation. Doing so will serve as an act of respect toward yourself, your teammates and the game of baseball.
